Ban On Journalist Ken Klippenstein From Posting Comments On X Handle, Is It Political?

Ken Klippenstein

Ken Klippenstein, famous American independent journalist faces a ban from posting on X handle. The ban was imposed on him as he published hacked document of Donald Trump’s presidential promotion.

Once the document got published, it was believed to be a part of Trump’s election strategy. The officials mention that it can be Iranian effort to create disturbance in the US Election.

What was the document?

The 271-page opposition research file on Sen. JD Vance, a Republican from Ohio, the running mate of former President Donald Trump, is available in PDF format.

Hackers, whom the United States claims have ties to Iran, have been trying to get the American media to publish material they stole for more than two months. Not a single outlet accepted the offer.

However, one of the files was published on Thursday by reporter Ken Klippenstein, who left The Intercept this year and now self-publishes on Substack.

The release of the document illustrates how state-sponsored hackers’ capacity to conduct election influence operations may be impacted by a changing media environment that includes more well-known independent journalists on sites like Substack.

What was the reaction of Ken Klippenstein?

He strongly asserts that his ban was political, given that X owner Elon Musk supports the Republican Trump-Vance ticket.

By providing a link to the PDF he received regarding the vice presidential nominee, Klippenstein refutes claims that he “doxxed” Vance or anybody else. Instead, he points to a more serious instance of doxxing that did not result in the sharing of information—many of which was personal—from Hunter Biden’s laptop.

Klippenstein claimed to have later turned in a censored copy of the Vance dossier that had been scrubbed of any information that might be interpreted as personal as part of an “experiment” to determine the relative importance of protocol vs politics. He reports that his appeal was still denied in spite of the edit.
